Homemade Cheesy Breadsticks – Simple Cheesy Recipe for Every Occasion
Golden, melty, and begging to be torn apart—Cheesy Breadsticks have a way of stealing the spotlight before dinner even hits the table. One minute you’re planning to serve a full Italian spread… the next you’re wondering whether a pan of gooey Cheesy Bread counts as a complete meal. (IMO, yes. Totally yes.)
These beauties start with a quick, foolproof pizza dough that you can whip up in advance—refrigerate it, freeze it, stash it for later. When hunger strikes, just stretch it out, slather on garlic butter, sprinkle in your go-to seasonings, and cover the whole thing with a generous amount of mozzarella and Parmesan. Twenty minutes later? You’ve got golden perfection ready to serve with marinara, alfredo, or any of your Favorite Dips.
Need something to round out dinner? These Breadsticks slide right into an Italian-inspired menu. Pair them with Homemade Lasagna, a Simple Green Salad, or even an antipasto plate stacked with Cured Meats for a spread that feels effortless but tastes like you tried way too hard. And don’t even get me started on how kid-friendly they are—melty cheese works miracles, FYI.
Looking to switch things up? Add a sprinkle of Everything Bagel seasoning on top for a fun twist. Or go all-in on Cheesy Recipes and layer on extra mozzarella for that dramatic cheese pull that basically demands a photo.
The best part? These breadsticks bake up fast—like, dangerously fast. You’ll go from mixing bowl to bubbling, golden edges in about 20 minutes flat. Hungry guests, busy weeknights, last-minute cravings… this recipe handles it all.
So, ready to turn simple pizza dough into something wildly craveworthy? These Homemade Cheesy Breadsticks deliver every time—warm, comforting, and ridiculously good with just about any meal.

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 18 breadsticks
Ingredients
- 1 batch of Homemade Pizza Crust
- 2 tsp olive oil (for greasing the pan)
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning, divided
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan
Instructions
- Adjust your oven rack to the lowest level and preheat to 500°F (260°C).
- Lay a sheet of parchment paper on a flat surface or cutting board. Place the pizza dough in the center and lightly dust with flour to prevent sticking. Roll the dough into a roughly 14 x 10-inch rectangle, using your hands as needed to stretch and shape it evenly.
- Coat a large rimmed baking sheet with about 2 tsp olive oil, spreading it evenly. Transfer the rolled dough onto the greased sheet and gently press it back into shape (around 14 x 10 inches). It doesn’t need to cover the entire pan.
- Mix melted butter with minced garlic, then brush or spoon the mixture over the dough. Sprinkle ½ tsp Italian seasoning and salt evenly on top. Cover with mozzarella and Parmesan, then finish with the remaining Italian seasoning for a flavor boost.
- Bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbling, and lightly golden. Let the breadsticks rest for a minute or two before slicing. Use a pizza cutter to cut into 18 strips (I recommend 6 lengthwise and 3 crosswise).
